Phoenix Race Report

Avon, AZ - May 13, 2006

Since late April, Nuzzo Motorsports and its two MINI Cooper Ses have seen it all, barometrically speaking. Beginning with rainstorms of biblical proportions in Virginia, then migrating to near-arctic temperatures in northern California, the team thought it’d seen it all. The team was welcomed to the Sonora desert and temperatures soaring to 106° in the heat of the day, stressing the cars, crews and drivers alike.

Tony Nuzzo and Steve Pattee, teaming together for the 4th time in 2006, drove the #20 Unichip MINI Cooper S in the weekend’s race. Nuzzo qualified and started the car 20th in class, before handing over to Pattee, who brought the car home 18th in class. Both the #20 and #22 car ran as high as 13th in class during the race, out of a field of 32.

Nuzzo Motorsports and their dual MINI Cooper Ses race next at Lime Rock Park, in Connecticut May 26–27. Television coverage will be on Speed Channel.
